Locations of seafloor geodetic observation network sites along the Nankai Trough. Red squares show the sites set before the 2011 Tohoku-oki earthquake and used in this study. Yellow arrows indicate the convergence rate of the Philippine Sea plate under the Eurasian plate calculated using the NUVEL-1A model (DeMets et al. 1994). The purple region shows the maximum source model of the great Nankai Trough earthquake assumed by the Central Disaster Management Council of the Japanese government (CDMC) (2013). The gray shading near the trench axis indicates an area with small resolution values calculated using the onshore geodetic observations by Yoshioka and Matsuoka (2013).
