Two-phase curve for seawater (dashed line) is also plotted with the liquid field to the lower right of the curve and the liquid + vapor field to the upper left of the curve. The star represents the critical point of seawater at 407°C and 298 bar. The maximum temperature of nearly all of the vent fluids is limited by the two-phase boundary.
