Trajectories of the three profiling floats from 22 June 2011 to 19 April 2013. All of the profiling floats were deployed along the 137°E meridian on 22 and 23 June 2011. The first symbols accompanying the float IDs (stars for 6429, circles for 7560, and triangles for 6399) indicate the locations where the floats were initially deployed, and the second symbols indicate the locations of the floats on 19 April 2013. The letters in bold indicate the central positions of the typhoons listed in Table 1 (A, T1106; B, T1109; C, T1112, D, T1114; E, T1115; F, T1215; G, T1216; and H, T1221) every 6 h. The bold characters show when a profiling float was within 300 km of a typhoon track. The thin dashed box indicates the domain wherein the three profiling floats were monitored in 2011, and the thick dashed box indicates the domain wherein the three profiling floats were monitored in 2012.
