Temperatures and speeds around the evolving slab over 11Â Myr. The model is solved with \(D=2\) where the geometry is taken from a cross-section of the \(D = 3\) volume parallel to the y-axis at location \(y={-200\,\mathrm{\text {k}\text {m}}}\). The time interval is discretized with 100 time steps such that \(\Delta t = {0.11}\,\hbox {Myr}\). Tracers are added in the speed plots showing pathlines between the time snapshots
