RMS δ lnVs as a function of radius for S40RTS slices (orange) and dynamic models (blue) after tomographic filtering beneath the Pacific plate. RMS δ lnVs is poorly matched for all models in the upper mantle. When δρ≥3.1%, the amplitude of RMS δ lnVs in the lower mantle can be matched except for the small inflection at the CMB. Overall, RMS δ lnVs is smoother for the filtered models than for S40RTS
